Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s first child, has apologised in front of the Nigerian public for the birthday message she sent the musician that many people found to be “insensitive.”
Remember that Davido celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday, November 22? Despite taking a break from social media following the passing of his son, fans, celebrities, and well-wishers celebrated by praying and praising him online on this special day.
Similar to this, his 7-year-old daughter Imade published a family photo of herself with the singer and his other two kids, including the late Ifeanyi Adeleke, via her Instagram profile, which is run by her mother Sophia Momodu.
“Happy birthday daddy! I wish you peace, joy & love”, she captioned the photo.
Many DMW boss fans, however, took exception with Sophia’s posting of a picture of the late Ifeanyi on Davido’s birthday and called her filthy for not openly mourning Ifeanyi after his passing.
In response to the criticism, Sophia Momodu has since apologised for her behaviour in a statement posted on her daughter’s Instagram account on October 22, 2022.
The post reads,
“I realize that the earlier post may come across as insensitive and I sincerely apologize as that was not the intention.
Imade deeply loves her father and all her siblings, and as a mother, I’m doing my best to guide her through the difficult emotion of grief from the loss of her brother whilst trying to celebrate her father’s birthday.
I ask for your consideration and hope that you all can be understanding during these times.
