Pastor Chad Fryar and his children were involved in a car-train collision near Gum Springs, Clark County, on Thursday.
Members of the family were life-flighted to UAMS in Little Rock.
According to reports, two of the children involved in the crash succumbed to their injuries upon arrival at UAMS. Fryar and son remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Prayers and massive support have flooded social media upon announcement of the tragic incident.
In the Clark County town of Richwoods, south of Gum Springs, an accident with a locomotive on Thursday afternoon resulted in two fatalities and two injuries.
Sheriff Jason Watson verified the demise of two minors. At around 1:40 p.m., authorities were alerted to the collision, which occurred at a railroad crossing bridging Richwoods Road and Fisher Loop. An adult and a third kid were airlifted to hospitals in Little Rock from the site.
A pickup truck with a one-ton trailer was the involved vehicle. After the incident, the train proceeded on its northern course until it was able to stop about a half-mile away from the scene of the collision, close to the Richwoods Cemetery.
The people involved in the crash were not locals, according to Watson. The sheriff claimed that the deceased’s nearest of kin had been informed of their passing.
At one intersection, there are stop signs for crossbucks on both sides of the lines, but no flashing lights or crossing gates.
