Peter Nwachukwu, the late gospel singer Osinachi’s spouse, has been remanded in the Kuje Correctional Facility by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Wuse.
On Friday, Justice Ngozi Nwosu-Iheme issued the ruling after Nwachukwu pleaded not guilty to the 23-count indictment brought against him by the Attorney General of the Federation, which included domestic violence and homicide, among other things (AGF).
She ordered that the suspect be remanded in custody, and that the trial be rescheduled for June 16 at 12 p.m. and June 17 at 9 a.m.
“Today’s business is arraignment; an accelerated hearing is now ordered,” Justice Nwosu-Iheme said.
She ruled that “Defendant should be remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility awaiting the hearing and conclusion of this matter.”
On April 8, Osinachi died, and many of her coworkers accused her husband of exposing her to domestic violence, which led to her death.
Following that, the Nigerian police arrested him, and he has been held in custody since since.
FG believes he broke Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act of 2015, as well as Sections 221 of the Penal Code and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (VAPP) of 2015.
