On State Street NE, west of state Route 44, early on Monday, a three-car collision left one driver dead and two others hurt.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Joseph L. Kellogg, 43, of the Alliance area, died in the crash that happened just before five in the morning.
20-year-old Alliance resident Zachary V. Gottscheck was traveling east on State Street in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Driving a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu west on State is 43-year-old Kellogg.
The two cars collided directly with one another. The patrol said that one of the cars crossed the center line, but they did not say which one.
The Malibu left the road and collided with a fence on the north side.
In a 1997 Honda Civic, Theodore S. Gazdak, 48, of the Alliance region, was likewise traveling west on State. Just after the Jeep and Malibu crash, the Civic hit the Jeep Wrangler, forcing the Honda off the north side of the road. The Jeep was lying on its side, facing west, in the State Street eastbound lane.
Gottscheck was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton by a Marlboro Township rescue team after suffering minor injuries. Gazdak was attended to on the spot by Nimishillen Township emergency services after suffering minor injuries.
The Marlboro Township Police Department, Marlboro Township Fire Department, Nimishillen Township Fire Department, and Canton Towing provided assistance to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
