A tragic incident has occurred in New Orleans as Southern University has confirmed the death of one of its students on Friday, May 12.
A sophomore business management major named Imani Williams was reportedly one of two women who were fatally shot in the Tremé area at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, as confirmed by the university.
According to President-Chancellor Dennis J. Shields, this particular student, along with others who have been victims of senseless acts of violence, will never have the opportunity to graduate and pursue their aspirations.
The university issued a statement expressing their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
According to university officials, counseling services will be made accessible to students.
The identity of the other woman has not been disclosed at this time.
