Cheque slams the ‘Headies Award Show’ organisers for not nominating him in any category.

Akanbi Bamidele Brett, a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper, has resorted to social media to express his disappointment at yet another snub by The Headies Award.

According to Cheque, the Headies failed to honour his music for the second year in a row since he was not included in the Rap category.

He went on to say that Headies’ behaviour is one of the reasons why HipHop in Nigeria has stayed static.

The Rapper wrote;

Another year and the HEAdIES fails to recognize my music in the Rap category, while melodic rappers like Durk and Roddy are idolized in the rap scene worldwide That’s why HiPhop has remained Stagnant HERE but It’s Calm I will still be dropping HiTs even if I don’t get my Flowers

The 15th edition of the Headies will take place on September 4, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The nominees were announced yesterday, and they sparked a lot of debate, as some music lovers were disappointed that their favourites were left out.

Surprise absences from the 15th edition of the renowned Nigerian award included Ckay and Joeboy.
