Burna Boy says, “I entered the music business after serving time in a UK prison and believing I would die.”

Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, an Afrofusion singer, has admitted that he entered the music business right out of Chelmsford HMP, a juvenile detention center in the UK.

The 31-year-old revealed this in a post on Twitter about his history.

Although “Nigeria truly doesn’t know me,” the singer claimed that he does not care as much as people think about being “called Nigeria’s biggest music star.”

Burnaboy said that he had not anticipated living thus long. Winner of a Grammy tweeted:
“I came into the music industry straight from Chelmsford HMP. I had no idea I would even live this long.

“So when people talk about me now, it’s all just funny. Of course, I would perform with my injured leg, or even no legs or arms.

“Nigeria really doesn’t know me. I don’t care to be the biggest Nigerian artist. I’m just happy I can do what I love and take care of my people from it.

“If you knew just half of the shit I used to do for money, risking my freedom daily, you would be way happier for me.”

Burna Boy has never before publicly acknowledged serving time in a UK prison.

The musician reportedly bragged about having performed in nearly every nation on earth.

In a recent Twitter message, the Grammy winner boasted.

He wrote:

“And by 2022 I’ve performed in almost every country in the world. Once I do The Asia, Australia and southAmerican tour. I will truly have done it all.”
Burna Boy knocked out Wizkid, Davido, and Tiwa Savage to become the first African performer to sell out the State Farm Arena on July 31.

The 21,000-seat State Farm Arena in Atlanta was completely sold out by the artist.

Burna Boy is also the only African artiste who has sold out four Arenas in the US. The 17 000-seat Hollywood Bowl, the 19 000-seat Toyota Center, the 21 000-seat Madison Square Garden, and the 21 000-seat State Farm Arena in Atlanta are a few examples.

During his concert tour for Burna Boy’s Space Drift, the 30-year-old also made history by becoming the first African to sell out Amsterdam, Netherlands’ Ziggi Dome.
