Boeing Factory Lockdown Lifted: No Suspect Found After Report of Active Shooter at Renton Boeing Plant

Boeing Factory Lockdown Lifted: Police say a call received about an active shooter at Boeing’s Renton plant Thursday morning appears to be unfounded.

A 911 call reporting an active shooter situation at Boeing final assembly was received by Renton police at 5:39 in the morning.

While Boeing secured its personnel, Renton police officers rushed to the site.

“We were unable to locate any evidence that anything had occurred on the Boeing campus, and Boeing Security checked their surveillance video and found no indication that there had been anything alarming there,” according to Renton Police Department Det. Robert Onishi.

According to Onishi, the police did get a call at the same time that might have been the origin of the report of an active shooter.

Multiple gunshots were reportedly heard from a parking lot for an apartment complex along Sunset Boulevard North.

About three-quarters of a mile separates that area from the plant, which is located on the opposite side of Interstate 405 from Boeing. Onishi speculated that the sound may have startled someone at Boeing in the early morning stillness.

No proof exists that anyone was harmed in the shooting event.
