Big Brother Naija season 5 Lockdown reality show winner Laycon has replied those steadily referring to him as Ikorodu Kendrick Lamar, a name assumed to be for someone who isn’t yet matured in the music game.
Laycon stated that he has no issue with people calling him Ikorodu Kendrick Lamar, as long as they know him as an artiste.
The reality tv star made this known in a live video where he was spotted answering some questions from fans.
In a recent Instagram live video, Laycon was seen attending to some questions thrown at him by fans, one of which was for him to share his opinion about the people calling him Ikorodu Kendrick Lamar.
“What’s your take on people calling you Ikorodu Kendrick Lamar?” the question states.
And in his response, the Icons’ president mentioned that even though he’s not from Ikorodu, there’s nothing wrong with the name because he may actually put the popular city located in Lagos on the map.
The singer also added that as long as the haters don’t compare him with footballer Lionel Messi, that shows they know he’s an artiste.
Laycon said, “To answer that question, good. If I’m going to be the one to put Ikorodu on the map, even though I’m not from Ikorodu.
“But guys, really man, I think I’m not concerned about that. If you like, it’s Ikorodu Kendrick Lamar, if you like Ebule egba J. Cole, if you like Nigeria Jay-z.
“The whole point is they’re not comparing me with Lionel Messi. So, that’s going to show you that they know I am an artiste, not anything else. But I love you guys.”
