Popular actress Kemi Afolabi has received prayers and good wishes from Nigerians on social media as she begins her Lupus treatment in a US hospital.
Three months prior, the actress announced her struggle with the illness and said she had been given five years to live, of which she had already lived one.
When your body’s immune system attacks its own tissues and organs, it develops the disease lupus.
Following the heartbreaking news, it was said that Kemi visited Christ Embassy Church in Lagos to receive healing. To substantiate the claim, a fictitious photo of a woman purported to be the actress receiving ministry from Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was posted online.
The 44-year-old actress, who is a devout Muslim and denied going to a church for prayers, however, came forward to refute the report. She further denied assertions that she was the woman in the widely circulated photo.
In a recent development, Kemi has started receiving treatment for the fatal illness in a facility in the US.
On Friday, July 1, she shared the news on her Instagram page and expressed her gratitude to the kind people who made it possible for her to start therapy.
She shared a montage and wrote,
I started my lupus treatment journey today, June 30, 2022, with @hopkinsmedicine.
God bless you all and best of luck to me. This was made possible by some wonderful souls.
