An unlicensed driver, Jackie Chand to appear in court after walking away from horrific Wetherill Park car accident

Sydney people are in shock after an incident in which a semi-trailer tore off the roof of the driver’s car and he allegedly was driving while ineligible and walked away from the scene.

Around 5.30 p.m. yesterday, Jackie Chand, 37, was driving a Nissan Murano in Wetherill Park when he collided with a Nissan Navara.

The 66-year-old Nissan Navara driver attempted to swerve out of Chand’s path, but instead, Chand clipped his ute, sending it spinning with his niece and nephew inside.

The Murano struck the Navara, forcing it to collide with a stationary semi-trailer as a result of the impact.Chand received minimal injury treatment before being transported to Liverpool Hospital as a precaution.

The driver’s survival and subsequent escape from the collision, in which the SUV’s roof was destroyed and replaced with a semi-trailer, stunned the locals.

The Nissan Navara’s driver, along with his niece and nephew, were unharmed, as well.

Chand is apparently a prohibited driver, and according to police, this is his second offense of driving without a license.

A summons to appear in court has been issued to the 37-year-old for reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while suspended. On June 13, he will show up at Fairfield Local Court.
