Uloma Nwosu, the daughter of former Imo state governor Senator Rochas Okorocha, has spoken out about her father’s detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On Tuesday, May 24, the EFCC raided the presidential aspirant’s Abuja apartment in order to arrest him after he allegedly skipped bail and refused to acknowledge the commission’s court processes.
Uloma alleged in an interview with Arise TV Monday, May 25, that the EFCC had no legal grounds to arrest her father.
They failed to provide any legal document or arrest warrant, according to her, to justify coming into their Abuja house and forcibly arresting the lawmaker.
“The manner they (EFCC operatives) presented themselves did not indicate that it was an official action, because there were no legal documents to back up their claim.” So you may label it illegal battery or something similar. At this point, I was also terrified since it didn’t appear to be official, and it didn’t appear to be done correctly. We were obviously concerned about His Excellency’s safety, which is why he asked for something so simple: “give us a document, a paper, a court order.” Uloma explained.

She went on to say that no one has heard from him since he was arrested on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m.
