In a tragic incident, 24 individuals lost their lives in a road accident that occurred in Chongwe District. According to reports, the victims are believed to be members of the New Apostolic Church. The incident took place on May 13, 2023.
In a tragic incident, 24 individuals who were reportedly members of the New Apostolic Church in Chongwe District lost their lives, while 12 others sustained severe injuries after the Mitsubishi Rosa Bus they were traveling in collided with a Freightliner Truck at Kapiringozi area along the Chirundu-Kafue road.
23 female adults and one male adult have been identified as the deceased, while eight females and four males are reported to have been injured.
Among the injured victims is the driver of the bus.
According to preliminary investigations by the police, a Rosa Bus with registration number BAL 9480 and 35 passengers on board collided with a Freightliner Truck and Trailer with registration numbers AGB 1988 and AEG 2942, hitting it from behind.
According to reports, both vehicles were observed traveling in the same direction towards Chirundu District.
According to investigations, a group of Church members were traveling from Manyika area in Chongwe District to attend a Church Service in Siavonga District.
In a recent incident, the Mitsubishi Rosa Bus suffered extensive damage, while the Freightliner Truck had its rear bumper damaged.
